Tim Flowers signs two for Rangers
30/11/10

Stafford Rangers manager Tim Flowers has completed the one-month loan signings of Burton Albion duo Garyn Preen and James Ellison.
Rangers’ trip to Harrogate on Saturday was postponed because of the weather but the two new-boys could be involved in tomorrow night’s home game against Eastwood, provided the match goes ahead.
Preen is a Wales under-19 international winger who signed for Burton from Southampton in the summer and has made two substitute appearances for the Brewers.
Ellison is a striker vying to come back from an injury suffered in a knife attack in October, when he was stabbed in the back during a night out in Liverpool.
The two 19-year-old’s are expected to go straight into the squad tomorrow night but another loanee, defender Rod McDonald, has returned to Oldham after being denied his farewell appearance at the weekend.
However, the club’s other loan defender, Northampton’s Sebastian Harris, is permitted to face Eastwood and could be set to extend his stay at Marston Road.
Rangers boss Flowers works with the Cobblers on Wednesday mornings as goalkeeping coach and is likely to discuss the player’s future with management.
He said: “It depends on their clubs, we will have to wait and see on that, but they have done well.
“I obviously go in to Northampton, so maybe there is more of a chance we will be able to keep Sebastian.
“But, in terms of Rodney, I am not sure if we will need him back yet, I need to contact Paul Dickov and Gerry Taggart at Oldham and see where we go.
“I will visit both of those situations when it comes to it.”
Ability at Rangers pleases Matty Elliot
17/11/10

| Stafford Rangers assistant manager Matt Elliott insists there is nothing wrong with the ability of the squad at Marston Road – despite their struggles on the pitch. Elliott has been at the club for the last four weeks but results have not gone Rangers’ way, before and after his arrival, with one point to show from their last six games. However, boss Tim Flowers’ No 2 as found himself “pleasantly surprised” by the talent on offer at Marston Road, having worked at close quarters with the squad on the training field. The former Scotland international played at the highest level with Leicester and believes the Rangers’ players – who are part-timers – are by no means a disgrace. What the 42-year-old is hoping to do is to get the players thinking and acting like professionals under the tutelage of their big-name management team, with training sessions geared towards that goal. It may not have filtered onto the pitch just yet but Flowers only completed his first month in charge this week, with Elliott urging patience as the duo try to steer the ship up the table. He said: “You can improve people mentally just by talking to them individually, if players want to improve and learn then more often than not they will do. “But I have been pleasantly surprised by the standard of the players in general, not just defensively. “They are a good, solid bunch of lads, quite a young squad but they have really knuckled down and have approached it in the right way, I can’t fault anyone in that respect. “We have had a fair chance to look at the players in the squad and, in fairness to them, they have all shown a great enthusiasm for what we are trying to build.” |
